Mission Statement

Pine Ridge Pet Resort, LLC will provide pet owners with a caring, clean and safe environment for their pets.  Our goal is to give the pet owner peace of mind, knowing that their pet is in the best of hands and receiving the best care possible while staying with us.  Meeting the individual needs of each pet is our highest priority.

Lynn Berryman, the previous owner of Pine Ridge Pet Resort, started her first boarding kennel in 1994.  In 1999 a life change necessitated a move and Pine Ridge was opened in 2001 after two years of planning.  Having dogs and horses from the time she was five years old and having worked in the corporate world for twenty five years, Lynn is well qualified in both the husbandry and business aspects of owning and operating a boarding kennel.  Lynn remains on staff as a consultant thoughout the transition to new ownership.

Lauren, Assistant Kennel Manager, came to us in the summer of 2006 and we are delighted she did!  She lives in Shelby County and will continue working with us while attending college.  The pets adore her; she always has a sweet voice and pat for every one.  Her hobbies are horseback riding and caring for her neighbor's animals.  We are very fortunate indeed to have this personable and hardworking young woman on staff.

Rachel has been with us at Pine Ridge since early Fall 2008.   She graduated from Shelbyville High School and is now attending IU in Bloomington.  We miss her happy face and the pets she cared for miss her too!  She's busy with college life now and will be home to celebrate her favorite holidays and summer vacation.  We are thrilled she will be returning to help us during these times.

Meredith joined us in March 2010 and has loved animals since she first knew what a dog was. She has grown up around horses, dogs and cats and enjoys working with them everyday. She has been working as a Veterinary Assistant at Brookville Road Animal Hospital for over 4 years and has learned a great deal about the health and happiness of pets. She is able to read and adjust to each animals individual personality and can be crazy and playful or just sit and cuddle with those who need it. At home she enjoys taking care of her Great Danes and cats with her boyfriend and laughing at their crazy antics everyday.

Becca,  who joined us in Fall, 2008, is a sophomore at Shelbyville High School. She loves playing with one of our favorite guests, Zoey and she quite often blows bubbles for Zoey to pop!  Becca is an honor student who enjoys English and is in the Shelbyville HS Show Choir.  She has a dog at home, shows her horse in 4-H and has been an active 4-H member since 2005.

Joining us in the summer of 2011, Sophia is a senior at Morristown High School.  She is her mother's assistant dog handler and often attends dog shows with her.  She has assisted in whelping and raising their Beagle puppies.  Her Beagle is a Therapy Dog and she is active in Beagle and Basset Hound rescue.  She plans to attend Ball State University to major in Forensics next year.

Heather and JC Proft, the new owners of Pine Ridge Pet Resort, are very excited about the adventure ahead of them. They're not strangers to adventure, either!  Both served our country in Kuwait, Heather as Financial Management Tech in the US Army Reserves and JC as an Infantryman with the US Indiana National Guard.  Heather's dream, though, was to own her own kennel and with associate degrees in both Accounting and Finance and a long history of pet care, she is at last realizing that dream.  JC will help around the kennel when he is not working at the VA hospital as a Federal Police Officer.  Their pledge is continued "excellence in professional pet care", adding some exciting new services as time goes by.

Sons Nathan and Brady will be helping out at the kennel during visits.  Nathan, 9, also enjoys playing football and baseball and is in third grade. Brady, 5, is an active kindergartener who likes football, baseball, helping with cooking and being the family jokester.  The boys live out west with their mother.
